The blaze broke out in Suffolk County around 6:20 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28 on Jamaica Avenue in Greenlawn.
According to Greenlawn Fire Chief Angelo Santomauro, first arriving firefighters reported heavy fire showing and transmitted a working fire.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack quickly knocking the fire down limiting any extension.
Once the fire was under control, firefighters went to work with search and ventilation operations.
There were no injuries, but a cat did perish in the fire.
Greenlawn was assisted by neighboring departments:
- Huntington Manor
- East Northport
- Centerport
- Commack VAC with Huntington FD and CVAC standing by at quarters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
